Our Church History


God is Able Missionary Baptist Church is a church that provides moral, spiritual and social guidance to all who seek Christ. We teach and show believers the way of God can lead to a better way of life.

We were organized in January 1992 in the home of our Founder, Rev Claudia Gaines. She resided in a 2-flat building at 7113 S. University, Chicago and held our first service the 1st Sunday in February 1992. Many people came to join, many people came to mock, but that did not stop Pastor Gaines from doing what God wanted her to do.

After months of worshipping in the home of Pastor Gaines, a store front near her job became available for rent, so we moved to 342 E. 71st street. Chicago. We held many spirit filled worship services, and God continued to bless us. We were known for our fundraising efforts and raised money for chair, pulpit, and other supplies a church needs to get off the ground. We planted, watered and God gave the increase.

As time went on. we began to grow and so did trouble, it was time for us to move and a friend of Pastor Gaines and a building she owned at 5524 S. Racine, Chicago. We were able to rent one of the store fronts which had an apartment connected to it and now we could have a kitchen, the Pastor could have an office and we had a small dinning area. We took this blessing from God and had many more spirit filled worship services, shut-ins, and revivals. The congregation again was growing and God was blessing with babies, weddings, homes, jobs, and cars.

March 2000, was a turning point in God is Able M.B. Church's history, for Pastor Gaines had almost finished her course (2 Timothy 4:7) and on September 8, 2000, God said well done thy good and faithful servant come hoMe to rest.

On the 1st Sunday in October 2008, God decided it was time for a shift in the atmosphere and under the now leadership of Pastor Shirley Bearden, we moved from 5524 S. Racine to 8000 S. Aberdeen. But with this shift, we did not grow, we lost more members than we had ever lost and we realized that we needed to make a change.

January, 2012 we began worshipping with Greater New White Cloud Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. R.L Ramsey. Sr. Pastor and Rev. b Ramsey, Pastor, at their location 5925 S. Racine , Chicago. We are still standing o a solid foundation and trusting God to lead us each day. We know where we have been, however, God holds our future and God is Able to keep us standing strong.

In 2020, we took our message to social media outlets like Facebook, Instagram, and Youtube.
